Dear Brother & Sister ILA Members
We celebrated the ILA’s 25 th Anniversary at our 2008 National Educational Conference and Trade Show. There we offered seven highly advanced classes; five of the classes were on the latest electronic technology for protecting our facilities needs. At the trade show we had twenty-nine exhibitors presenting us with their latest security products. At our 25 th Anniversary Dinner Banquet we had a very special guest speaker, Steve McKinney. Steve was one of the original twelve charter members from the December 6, 1983 meeting held at S. Simons Hardware Co. Inc. located in Cambridge, Massachusetts from that meeting the Institutional Locksmiths’ Association (ILA) was started. Steve brought with him the original records on the association that he still had and read to us some of the association’s important history. Steve then turned those records over to the National Board so that we could protect and store them in a safe place. Vernon Kelley will also copy those records onto CD’s so that we will always have our ILA history on record forever. Those attending the dinner banquet received our special 25 th Anniversary mugs for a keepsake of our celebration.
The award recipients at this year’s banquet were Associate Member - Ron Weaver, Mentor – Tom Demont, President’s – Victor Lewis. Also Vernon Kelley received the GPLA Lee Rognon Award from GPLA President Edward Fitzgerald and I received a plaque from ALOA President Ken Kupferman in recognition of the ILA’s 25years of cooperative effort in support of the Locksmith Industry.
Our elected officers from the General Membership meeting are Vice-President Tara Williams, CJIL, Treasurer Richard S. Duskiewicz, CJIL, Directors Ron Frei, CJIL, Director Tom Negron, CIL, Director Wai Kin Ng, CIL. Along with the newly elected officers to the board we have a new association P.O. Box.
